I've been on a supernatural kick lately (no, not the TV show) and as you may know I'm a huge fan of the found footage genre (Which I wrote about in a previous post which you can read here). With this film we get both and it doesn't disappoint.
When you start the film you may get that "I've seen this before" feeling and you maybe right. With it having elements of films such as "Paranormal Activity", "Poltergeist" & "Insidious" mixed with the abundance of ghost hunting shows on TV your expectations may reach an all time low, but I beg you not to turn it off.
Where all those films and shows fail this film succeeds, there isn't much waiting around for the action to start and even though it's not non-stop you're never too far away from something happening, although there is a-lot of activity it doesn't take you away from an actual plot, not just of a haunting but of real life problems.
With this being Director Carles Torrens first full length feature we see a-lot of potential and I can't wait to see what he has for us in the future, hopefully some studio will take notice. The genre needs fresh blood and Torrens could be in that pack given the chance.
The film does have some great twists in it's story and the cast play out their roles superbly. We have characters that you can truly feel for, with a grieving family in decline you are drawn in emotionally and that is a true rarity in any film.
It may not be anything new or refreshing but it is very entertaining, especially if you're in-to the supernatural.
