A few films have been trickling out of the British independent horror scene lately and it's definitely been gaining momentum, "Panic Button" is proof of that.
We're introduced to four characters who've won a competition, an all expenses paid trip to New York, courtesy of the fictitious popular social network 'All2gethr.com'. But as we all know it isn't as clear as that, not in a Horror film. The film has been described as "Social Network" meets "SAW" and I think that's a fair assumption to make, it definitely lets you know what you're in for.
I was very impressed with the cast with which I only knew of two of them, Jack Gordon ("Truth or Dare", "The Devil's Business", "Wrong Turn 3") and Scarlett Alice Johnson ("The Reeds" and TV shows "Pramface" and "Beaver Falls"). Both are young stars on the rise and I hope they do more of this type of work in the future, they could be stars in the next ten years if the right work comes along.
Director Chris Crow is also another to watch out for, he certainly knows how to create a tense atmosphere and I'm really excited to see what he does in the future, with what he's created on low budgets is this good just imagine what he could do with a decent enough budget. Oh and Chris, if you by any miracle read this then I'd just like to say that I loved your little homage to 'Hal9000' ;)
"Panic Button" is a very entertaining and gripping watch, a great showcase of what the British horror scene has to offer these days. I was very impressed with it and recommend it to anyone who likes their films claustrophobic and at a high altitude.
